What is a manufactured home?

A manufactured home is sometimes known as a mobile home.

It is a structure other than a caravan or tent, that: 

A manufactured home can be located in a mixed use residential park, such as a park with manufactured homes, caravan sites, tents and holiday cabins, which offers both short-term and longer-term accommodation options.

It can also be located in a purpose-built residential park that only consists of manufactured homes. These are usually targeted at the over-50s age group.

A converted caravan is not considered to be a manufactured home, except in the following circumstances:

A converted caravan is defined as a structure that as originally designed was a caravan, and is no longer a caravan because of a structural addition or structural alteration.

What is a residential park?

A residential park is an area of land that includes sites (land available for rent under a site agreement), common areas and facilities for the personal comfort, convenience or enjoyment of residents.

Who is a manufactured home owner?

A manufactured home owner owns a manufactured home that is, or will be, positioned on a site in a residential park under a site agreement. A person may also become a home owner if they obtain an interest in a site agreement as a personal representative or beneficiary of an estate.
