The Minister for Fair Trading has issued a safety warning notice about solar hot water heaters supplied by Sunergy Solar Solutions Pty Ltd and director, Max Henderson.
The hot water systems supplied may not meet the requirements of the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2002 and may be defective.
Potential hazards
The defective systems could produce uncontrolled water temperature which may result in very hot water flowing into bathroom and kitchen taps. This presents a serious risk of scalding.
What consumers should do
Consumers who have purchased and installed or arranged the installation of solar water heaters supplied by Sunergy Solar Solutions Pty Ltd and director Max Henderson are urged to:
- show extreme caution when using these systems to avoid scalding
- contact their local council for further advice on certification on the solar hot water system and its installation
- assist the Office of Fair Trading investigation by lodging their contact details at BrisbaneOFTenquiry@deedi.qld.gov.au or 13 QGOV (13 74 68).
