Businesses can sell you their goods and services in many ways. As a consumer, you are protected against some sales methods. Australian business have certain obligations in relation to their sales practices.

Door-to-door sales and telemarketing
Your rights when door-to-door traders visit your home or when a telemarketer calls you.

Lay-bys
Your rights and responsibilities in lay-by agreements.

Pricing
What a business must do when more than one price is advertised for a good or service. Businesses must not advertise only part prices for goods and services.

Unsolicited supply of goods or services
What to do when you receive goods or services that you did not purchase or order.

Proof of transaction and itemised bills
You are entitled to receive proof of transaction (usually a receipt) for any purchase, and you can also request an itemised bill.

Itinerant traders
Be wary of itinerant tradespeople offering their services unsolicited.
