Right to information

Printable view Printable view

The Right to Information (RTI) is the Queensland Government's approach to giving the community greater access to information, including information held by the Office of Fair Trading.

The Queensland Government has made a commitment to provide access to information held by the Government, unless on balance, it is contrary to the public interest to provide that information.

Our state's RTI legislation includes the Right to Information Act 2009 and the Information Privacy Act 2009.

The legislation applies to Queensland Government ministers and departments, local councils and semi-government agencies and statutory authorities. It does not apply to documents held by the Commonwealth Government or by other state governments.

Make an RTI application

Fair Trading services are provided by the Department of Justice and Attorney-General. Visit the department's website for more information on making an RTI application.
