REVS (register of encumbered vehicles search) is a service for car buyers. It costs less than $20, and can tell you whether a car or boat has money owing on it before you buy it.

If you buy a car privately, you have to do your own REVS search. However, if you buy through a motor dealer they must do the search for you.
