Register a cooperative |
Before you register a cooperative, ensure you have five individuals or corporations who will become members.
Create the rules
Choose whether to use the standard rules for each cooperative type or create your own from scratch. Either way, they must comply with the Act.
Disclosure statement
If you are forming a trading cooperative, you must complete a disclosure statement that outlines members financial rights and responsibilities.
Formation meeting
During this meeting, members accept all the documents on which future cooperative activities will be based.
Active membership
Cooperatives must have guidelines on the minimum amount of member activity needed for members to keep voting rights and membership.
