Insurance cover |
We recommend that you consider taking out insurance to cover yourself against financial loss in the event of:
- unemployment, sickness and disability
- loss of home and/or contents
- loss of or damage to a motor vehicle
- death.
Most people underestimate the amount of insurance cover they need. If you under-insure, your insurer may ask you to contribute to the costs and may reduce what you can claim. Read your insurance policies thoroughly, as they usually only cover what is defined in the policy and nothing else.
For more information, visit the Australian Securities and Investments Commission. If an insurance company won´t pay your claim, contact the Financial Ombudsman Service.
