Gift cards reform

Printable view Printable view

Have you ever had a gift card that expired before you had a chance to use it? Or had restrictions placed on your purchases that meant you couldn´t redeem the full amount on your card?

Some reports estimate that around $1.5 billion is spent on gift cards annually in Australia, with up to 30% going unspent.

The Commonwealth Consumer Affairs Advisory Council (CCAAC), in conjunction with State and Territory fair trading agencies, is looking at options for better consumer protection measures around gift cards.

This is your chance to have your say on the issues affecting the sale and use of gift cards in Australia.

You can provide a written response to the consultation questions included in the issues paper.
