Fair Trading and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2011

The draft Fair Trading and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2011 proposes changes to the following Acts:

• Associations Incorporation Act 1981
• Collections Act 1966
• Credit (Commonwealth Powers) Act 2010
• Land Sales Act 1984
• Liquor Act 1992
• Residential Services (Accreditation) Act 2002
• Retirement Villages Act 1999.

The aim of the amendments is to provide greater protection for consumers and simplify legislative requirements.

The government sought public input on the draft Fair Trading and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2011 and also provided a consultation guide to read in consultation with the amendments.

The feedback from stakeholders has been compiled and is currently being considered. The results of this work will be used to inform the development of any changes to the Bill.

Consultation closed on 10 December 2010.
