A business name extract is a printout of the registered details of a particular business name, from the business names register. It contains all current and historical records relating to business addresses and owners.

If you only need confirmation that a business name is registered in Queensland (or you want to know the registration number), you can do this for free over the phone. We can not tell you whether or not a name is available for registration.

If you need more information about a registered Queensland business, you need to buy a business name extract. You need to tell us whether you need a certified or uncertified extract. Generally, you need certified extracts only for legal proceedings, such as when an extract is produced in court.
