Right to information |
Right to Information (RTI) is the Queensland Government's approach to giving the community greater access to information, including information held by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT).
The Queensland Government has made a commitment to provide access to information it holds, unless it is not in the public interest to release that information.
RTI reforms aim to make more information available, provide equal access to information across all sectors of the community, and provide appropriate protection for individuals' privacy.
Our state's RTI legislation includes the Right to Information Act 2009 and the Information Privacy Act 2009.
The legislation applies to Queensland Government ministers and departments, local councils and semi-government agencies and statutory authorities. It does not apply to documents held by the Commonwealth Government or by other state governments.
For more information visit the Queensland Government RTI website or call 13 QGOV (13 74 68).
