Breaking news - the 2010 Buy Smart Competition is open!
Think first, buy smart
This year´s Buy Smart Competition will focus on consumer issues and financial literacy. If you´re in years 5-12, this is your chance to win some cash!
How to enter
You can enter by researching a fair trading or financial issue (either as an individual or in group of up to 6 people), and then developing a presentation to share your research with your peers. The more creative the presentation the better! Presentation formats can include:
- Web pages
- Book
- Poster
- Board game
- Video
- Cartoon
- PowerPoint presentation
- Brochure etc.
Send in your presentation to the Office of Fair Trading, Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation, with a completed official entry form by the closing date of 17 September 2010.
Don´t forget to visit our youth website http://www.getoutthere.qld.gov.au/ for some handy hints and tips.
Entrants will be judged on how well they identify and communicate a fair trading or financial issue.
There are three categories:
- Years 5-7
- Years 8-9
- Years 10-12
The prizes
All entries will receive a certificate of participation. Prizes include:
- First prize: $500 for entrants and $1500 for their school/organisation
- Second prize: $200 for entrants and $800 for their school/organisation
- Third prize: $150 for entrants and $500 for their school/organisation
- Highly commended across the categories will receive a gift voucher.
